About the ski area:
Warth-Schröcken is one of the most snow-reliable ski areas in the Alps and the scope of the 3TälerPass. With a height of over 2000 meters in some places and the many northside slopes, Warth-Schröcken enables skiing fun until spring. Warth-Schröcken offers 70.8 km of slopes and ski routes with different levels of difficulty. This makes it the second largest ski area of the 3TälerPass. For some years now, Warth-Schröcken has also been connected to the SkiArlberg, the largest ski area in Austria.
About us:
We are Moritz and Christiane from Bregenz and this year we will explore the different ski areas of the 3TälerPass. Christiane only started skiing last year and will start her second skiing season in 2018/2019. This will give you an insight into the ski areas from a beginner’s perspective. Since Moritz has been on skis for a while, he also feels comfortable on steep slopes. He will describe his impressions for more advanced skier.
Our day in the Warth-Schröcken ski area:
The skiing season finally begins! This year, we went to Warth-Schröcken for our first day of skiing. We chose this ski area for our start because it is one of the highest ski areas and therefore hast the most open slopes. Unfortunately, not all ski lifts were open yet, but this didn’t limit us at all.
Coming from Bregenz, we parked in the parking lot at Kalbelesee. If you get there early enough, you can get a parking space almost directly at the Saloberjet (cable car). The Saloberjet then brought us for the first time to the Warth-Schröcken skiing area. The view from the top station of the lift is simply amazing. In every direction you have a great panorama with mountains of over 2500 meters. Skiing here is really like skiing in front of a picture-perfect panorama.
Favourite slope Moritz:
My absolute favourite slope in the Warth-Schröcken ski area is 292, a red slope on the Hochalpbahn (see map at the bottom). The slope runs in several waves downhill where you can pick up a lot of speed. Due to its north-facing slope, the 292 still offers great slope conditions in the afternoon.
Favourite slope Christiane:
My favourite slope was a combination of different slopes. The starting point is the top station of the Sonnen-Jet or Sonnencruisers and the finish is at the Körbersee with the valley station Ski-Schaukel Falken (Körbersee). In order to get from the Sonnenjet to the Körbersee, we drove various blue slopes. It started with the 254, followed by the 257 and the 255 (see map at the bottom). The great thing about this descent was the great mountain panorama, which accompanied me the entire route, as well as the loneliness on the slopes, since they are quite on the edge of the ski area.
Refreshments:
A wonderful refreshment stop is directly at the Körbersee – the Berghotel Körbersee. At this idyllic place, which has already been voted Austria’s most beautiful place, you can spend your lunch break perfectly. But of course, there are also a number of other places to stop for a bite to eat, such as the Salober gastronomy or the Hochalphütte.
What is special about Warth-Schröcken:
For us, the flagship of the Warth-Schröcken ski area is the special view that you have here when skiing. A simply stunning mountain panorama! In addition, the high location of the ski area enables an early start of the season and a late end of the season, which makes it perfect for those who cannot wait until you can finally start skiing again and cannot get enough of it in spring.
Other great skiing areas in Vorarlberg are the family skiing area Sonnenkopf, Damüls-Mellau or the Diedamskopf.
