We parked our car in Bludenz and started our hike in Dalaas. From our first to the very last step the hike to Freiburger Hütte was uphill – no exception. It was a really hot day and the air was really heavy because there was no wind at all. The hike was incredible hard with the sore muscles from the other days and the shortage of sleep from the stay in the shelter the night before. When we thought that we at least must have made 700 of the altitude of 1000 meters, we found a sign that said that we not even have made half of the way. Wow – that was really a slap in the face. We did not want to go back so we kept hiking. The mood was not really good anymore. But then, finally, we arrived the cottage for the night. The Freiburger Hütte has a beautiful view over Formarin lake and Klostertal. We really enjoyed our well-deserved beer and lemonade and dinner on the terrace. We slept well that night and after the breakfast the next morning we continued our hike. The first part was around Formarin lake and in front of the magnificent backdrop of red wall mountain (Rote Wand).
GROSSES WALSERTAL
Then we hiked some time uphill to reach Großes Walsertal. After a short lunch break we followed the path down the valley. The view and the weather were simply amazing. And the hike was much more enjoyable than the day before. After another uphill passage we took the bus from Alpe Laguz down to Merul where we were picked up by car.
BRANDNERTAL
From Bludenz we took our car to Brandnertal where we stayed in a nice hotel with incredible tasty dinner. We were really exhausted from the hikes, but we wanted to visit the mystical stone circles nearby. The atmosphere was very special and indeed mystical.
The next morning, we visited the bike park close to the hotel were took the cable car up the hill to drive down with mountain karts. That was so much fun! We could not get enough and the staff was really relaxed and outgoing. Then, it was time to head to our last destination in Vorarlberg: the region Montafon.
